Hiya! I'm LadyGinger from Amsterdam. I've been creating pixels since 2005, love exploring the world, and enjoy collecting little memories along the way.

HEARING JOURNEY

Two years ago I was diagnosed with otosclerosis, a condition that causes hearing loss due to abnormal bone growth in the middle ear. While it usually affects only the stapes, mine also involves my cochlea, meaning my hearing may continue to decline over time.

I currently wear a hearing aid, which has become part of my everyday life.

CREATIVE LIFE

I discovered pixel art around 2005 when I was about 10 or 11 years old. Since then I've explored writing, coding, digital art, and all sorts of creative hobbies. Pixels were what first sparked my love for creating things.

These days I'm still an active writer and pixel artist whenever life (and motherhood!) gives me the chance to sit behind my computer.

🎨 PIXEL ART

What programs do you use? ▸

Aseprite on my laptop, and Pixelstudio on mobile.
Fun fact: I started making pixel art on MS Paint, then later on switched to GIMP and Photofiltre.

Mouse or Pencil? ▸

Since my phone and laptop (it's touch!) have a pencil, I can't work with a mouse.
Fun fact: I started with a mouse. It took me a bit to get used to a pencil.

Biggest pixel project? ▸

In 2025 that was this Space piece, which has multiple sizes: 1000x250 / 960x540 / 1080x1920.
In 2026, that is currently my Mermaid, which is 350x500 pixels.
I'm working on a larger piece for my website, but it's unfinished.

Who are your favorite pixel artists from way back when vs. now? ▸

I always think this is such a difficult question, because there are so many great artists out there.

Did you code this website? ▸

Yes! Everything is hand coded with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It's been a while since I've truly coded, so I'm still a little rusty (hence the many updates haha.)

I think the popups! and how you can choose your favorite theme!

Yes, once the other pages are all updated/setup, I will start sharing codes/entire websites and templates that you can make your own. They will be free to use (if you keep the credit).

Oof, Switzerland probably? I love to travel, there's so many beautiful destinations.

Means of travel? ▸

Definitely with a car. I like to know we're on earth/a road. If I have to, then with an airplane. I don't know how some people are able to just sleep the whole time while traveling by air, or that they don't get anxious during turbulence..

How many languages do you speak? ▸

I speak 5 languages pretty fluently. Dutch is my native. English, German and French I learned in high school. I used to know a bit of Japanese. Since 2014 I've been learning Aramaic/Assyrian and Arabic.

Tea or coffee, any favorite drinks? ▸

Neither! I can't sleep when I drink any caffeine, so it's usually just water or lemonade. I do love some smoothies and milkshakes!
